Global SDR

From a published broadcast to a receiver you can actually use.

Choose a compatible public KiwiSDR or your own RTL-TCP receiver, then keep the listening session under control.

Receiver journey

One schedule action, two receiver paths.

DXLens can continue to an independently operated public KiwiSDR or to a personal RTL-TCP receiver you configure in the app.

1
Choose Global SDR workflow

Choose

Use the public KiwiSDR directory or a saved personal RTL-TCP receiver that supports the requested frequency.

2
Prepare Global SDR workflow

Prepare

Public receivers expose coverage and availability. Personal RTL-TCP receivers keep host, performance, and HF-profile settings on your device.

3
Listen Global SDR workflow

Listen

Keep the broadcast, receiver, recording, tuning, and connection state together in the DXLens player.

4
Tune Global SDR workflow

Tune

Use shared Step, Mode, and bandwidth controls, remembered tuning preferences, Smart Auto mode, and the native spectrum/waterfall without returning to the schedule.

Choose the receiver path before DXLens assumes one.

On first use, Listen via SDR offers a clear choice between a compatible public KiwiSDR and My RTL-SDR. Kiwi can open the compatible receiver chooser without a preselected receiver; My RTL guides you to add the host and port and verify that the server returns the RTL-TCP RTL0 handshake before listening. The pending broadcast frequency stays attached to that setup flow.

Native listening workspace

The session stays coherent after the receiver opens.

KiwiSDR keeps its public receiver workflow. RTL-TCP uses a local I/Q audio and spectrum path in DXLens, now with higher-resolution 8K/16K FFT processing and no receiver website required.

Global SDR listening controls

Included listening controls

  • Native spectrum and waterfall, with 8K FFT in Smooth and 16K FFT in Detailed RTL-TCP profiles
  • Shared Step, Mode, and bandwidth controls in the dashboard and waterfall
  • Smart Auto mode for confident broadcast-band choices, plus remembered Step and bandwidth preferences
  • AM/USB/LSB/CW/NFM/WFM/WFM Stereo, local recording, saved presets, and DSP controls
  • Background audio, Lock Screen / Control Center playback, reconnect, disconnect, a full-width KiwiSDR/My RTL switch, and direct Listening Scan access
  • Optional iCloud sync covers portable tuning, RTL DSP, and Listening Scan preferences; personal RTL-TCP endpoints and hardware profiles stay on the device where you configured them
!

Know which receiver you are using.

Public KiwiSDR receivers are independently operated and can change capacity, policies, or availability. Personal RTL-TCP connects directly to the host you configure; use a trusted local network or a protected private-network path rather than exposing a raw RTL-TCP port unnecessarily.
